Apex Closure

Hello everyone,

If you do not live in the Apex Park and Rec District you may not know that all Apex facilities will close starting tomorrow through April 30th. This means no tennis at the Apex Tennis Center until April 30th. We will keep you updated with any information we receive, but in the meantime know that:
* The ATC has contacted those who had upcoming court reservations.
* Holders of Permanent Court Time will be contacted by the ATC regarding any refunds or credits.
* Players who have signed up for our March Social on Saturday March 21st will be refunded.
* Regarding league play.
USTA National has decided to suspend all USTA-sanctioned events through April 20 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This means:
    –  CTA Trio is cancelled for 2020. All registered players will receive a full refund. The process for this refund is still TBD.
    –  USTA Mixed 18 & Over. Since the suspension of league play affects 3 out of 7 weeks, the league will be shortened to a 4-5 week session. All registered teams/players have the option to opt-out of the league and receive a full refund. Team captains will be emailed directly to see if they would like to be scheduled in the league or receive a full refund. Captains must reply to taylor@coloradotennis.com by March 17th.
    –  USTA Adult 18 & Over.  Currently, the suspension only impacts one day of the league season (April 20 – June 4). Since this league takes 3 – 4 weeks to schedule, the only option is to continue to schedule the league under the assumption that league play will resume April 21 and teams will get a 6-7 week season. All registered teams/players have the option to opt-out of the league and receive a full refund. Team captains will be emailed directly to see if they would like to be scheduled in the league or receive a full refund. Captains must reply to taylor@coloardotennis.com by 3/20.  Matches that would initially be scheduled on 4/20 will be considered a floating match.
    –  USTA Adult 55 & Over and CTA Women’s Daytime Doubles.  Decisions are still being made regarding these leagues. At this time the minimum roster deadline will continue to be April 3. If teams decide not to play due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, they can be issued a full refund.
This certainly isn’t the way we want to kick off the tennis session, but everyone’s health is paramount.  I hope this emergency subsides quickly so we can get back to our daily routines, including lots of court time.  Until then, continue to do what you can to keep yourself and your family happy and healthy.
Take care,
Jen Stiebeling

2020 Club Memberships

Thanks to those who attended our Annual Meeting Saturday, January 25th, and thank YOU for reading this post:-). With 476 members last year and the potential for further growth this year, our Newsletters and website are two ways we keep everyone informed. And, with League season just around the corner there is news to share.

First, our annual memberships dues have changed a bit for league play in 2020.

Second, we are revamping the way we find league teams for those who are looking. By clicking here or by scanning the QR code displayed on our Bulletin Board at the ATC, you will be taken to a “I Need A Team” form. Once submitted, one of our Club Representatives will send your name to appropriate captains needing to add to their roster(s).

Club Rep’s will be working with players based on their NTRP rating. Should players or captains have pressing questions/requests, Club Rep contact information can be found in our newsletter.

2020 Annual Meeting

Hello Tennis Family!

Just a reminder that our Annual Meeting is just around the corner. NJTC continues to grow and your Board would like to share what they are doing to help keep members informed and engaged. A majority of us spend many hours on the court over the course of the year, but just 60 minutes on Saturday is all it takes to show your support for all NJTC does for league play and beyond.
In addition to raffling off 5 full memberships, we will also be bringing in salads and sandwiches from Jersey Mikes.  If you could kindly RSVP below so we have an accurate count for food we’d greatly appreciate it.
Hope to see you Saturday,
Jen Stiebeling

New Year's Eve Social

Halloween Tennis Social Fun

What a fun time sharing food and drink with tennis friends.  Kevin organized another great tennis social at the ATC.  Apex generously donated prizes for the best costumed players.

Palooza 2019

Tennis Palooza 2019 was a fantastic event and the pictures that follow will prove it! By the numbers: over 4 days we had 178 entries between 139 players, 14 raffle prizes, 5 breweries, 3 food trucks, 2 clothing vendors, 2 50/50 raffle winners, 2 nights of live music and a whole lot of fun!! The weather was nice and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We collected many racquets for the Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation Racquets for All program and about 100 pairs of shoes for the Soles4Souls charity. It’s heartwarming (and much appreciated) that so many participants donated to those who are considered less fortunate.

Teaching tennis in Guatemala

Did you know it only costs $13 for a child to play tennis for an entire year in Guatemala?

Yes, you read that correctly—only $13 for a year’s worth of lessons with a local tennis pro in Antigua. After the introduction of tennis last summer, many of the children at Escuela Integrada want to continue learning the sport.
Support tennis in Guatemala today by sponsoring a student’s lessons.
